She looked up at his red eyes, wondering why in the world he would've wanted double colored eyes like hers. "Um...no, no you didn't frighten me at all," she quickly muttered, the tone in her cheeks deepening. *Oh crud, why now!? There's no reason to be self-conscious, just calm yourself Mayna, you're overreacting.....* It wasn't working despite Mayna's best efforts. She'd never gotten closer to a guy than about arm's length away and none of them had ever commented on her eyes before. "Why would you want eyes like that? They're not that great." She looked away for a moment, Alec's eyes reminding her of pools of blood which in turn reminded her of her own family's fate years back.

Inside Alec was laughing, not a mean cruel laugh, but an actual laugh. Oh how long it had been since he laugh, and he let it flow from his mouth. Why was he laughing? Not even he knew, but what he did know was that it was nto directed at her, just a laugh of joy.
"Oh my dear, look around, look at everyone's eyes, so similar no difference, I never was one for being like everyone else, it was why I was most likely signaled out by that wicked Vampire years ago." Alec replied solemly, pretending to ignore the blush creeping onto her face.

He had a point, everyone else in the world had normal, same colored eyes; it could get boring after while she supposed. Suddenly, Alec was laughing and Mayna drew back in surprise. "Um...I guess you're pretty happy now," she said, tilting her head in an inquiring way. He was strange, this vampire. He didn't like his new life, he didn't like blood or gore, he liked being from others though; Mayna didn't know what to make of Alec. Smiling, she shook her head and drew her knees up to her chin. Staring at the horizon, she realized how long they'd been talking. "Oh, the sun's coming up," she exclaimed, eyes widening. "I didn't know I stayed out so long."

Alec seemed surprised even, to see the sun rising. "Ah my dear, this is were we will have to part. As quoted from Romeo and Juliet; Parting is such sweet sorrow. Ah but it is truely, since I won't see you again, most likely." Alec said, keeping his mood light and airy, even though inside he felt as if someone had just punched him.
He stood, streching, allowing stiff joints to crack and pop. "I guess, I'll see ya around then."

"Wait!" Mayna cried, leaping to her feet as Alec started walking away. "I want to come with you." There, plain and simple. She didn't want to separate and didn't care if he was a vampire or not, she wasn't about to leave. Running to catch up, Mayna stopped next to him, glaring up at him, daring the vampire to object to her decision. "So, where do you usually head to when it's daytime?" she asked, beginning to walk forward. The first few early risers were already whizzing by in their cars as the sky continued to brighten.

Alec had begun to walk opppostie of the rising sun, his shadow long and spidery, but his head down in sadness. But the shadow seem to come alive with life when he heard what she said as she caught up to him. He wouldn't object, no his mind was rebelling, he could put this girl in danger. "Understand this, I could hurt you, not intentionally, but I could." Alec said, facing her, "Will you still come?" Before she could answer he pointed off into the distance, "A rather small cave, way back is wear I hide from the sun."

Mayna nodded with confidence. "Of course, besides if I get hurt, it's not your fault. I wanted to come," she said. Peering int other distance to where Alec was pointing, Mayna rose on tip toes to catch a view of the cave he spoke of. "Wow, you really just stay in there all day? Yeesh, is that comfortable?" She shook her head in wonder. "How often do you come out even during nighttime? Or do you stay cramped in there all day and night when you're not feeding?"

"Well... I'd still feel responsible." Alec told her as he walked twoards the cave, ever checking the rising sun. "I do stay in there all day, well daylight that is. Sometimes if a heavy storm passed through I can come out in the sun, and I can come out at Sunset time. It is quite comfortable, I do sleep in there. It is a lot bigger on the inside then you can tell," He said, talking fast and keeping a fast pace, making a direct cut to the cave, still answering the questions, "I come out each and every night, and wander the town, I know a beautiful spot were you can see the entire city at night, it lights up so pretty. I'll have to show you. --- Ahh look we are here."
He said that witha grand gesture at the cave entrance, a side bow as if he was someone showing art rather than a sleeping place. "Ladies first."

Mayna giggled at his formal gesture and gave a curtsy of sorts before entering herself. It was roomier on the inside than what its outer appearance let on. "That's good, to know you come out at night at least. Now get in here before you get roasted to a crisp!" She took his hand and pulled him in after her. "Why would you feel responsible?" Mayna still couldn't figure out why Alec cared so much about what happened to ehr while she was around him, like she said, it'd be her fault for staying with him.

Alec made sure she was in, and with a flick of his wrist, the cave enterance seemed to be covered with --something. For a moment the two were left in darkness, but a with a snap, lights appeared. Hundreds of candles lite up the cave, showing off the rommy interior.
The cave was large, and warm. A small pool of steaming water sparkled in the back of the cave, while a chache in the back looked to have blankets tumbled about. Pictures lined the walls, and the sound of slow moving water created a calming atmosphere.
"Welcome to my humble home, and contrary to popular belief, I do in fact, sleep on a bed, not hanging from a ceiling by my toes." He said, pointing to the tattered blankets, "As you can see, I picked the most lovely cave in all the area, I've got my own personal heated well spring."

Mayna blinked at the sudden transfer from light to darkness then to light again. "Heh, I like it!" she giggled, looking around with wonder. "Though your sleeping quarters could use a little help." Frowning at the blankets, she picked one up and stared at it long and hard. There's no way you'd be able to survive through winter nights with these ratty ones." Setting the cloth down, Mayna got to her feet and made fo the entrance again. "I'm gonna go for a moment to get some things. I'll be back later."

"Ah, the well spring does keep it warmish here, and these rags are as good as they get. I ran out of money two years ago, and I will not go as low as stealing for new ones." Alec said to her.
With he request, he flicked his hand and the thing covering the cave opened, and a slighty ray of light peaked onto the floor. Alec stepped back, "Be quick."

Mayna nodded and darted outside, blinded once more by sunlight. One hand up to shield her eyes, she raced back towards the apartment where she stayed temporarily and barged in through the door on her flat, ignoring the protests from neighbors. Grabbing her bag from beneath the bed, Mayna rummaged through her closet, looking for blankets and cloths. Tossing into the open bag three thick sheets, a jacket, a couple pairs of pants and tops, and a pair of extra shoes, she slammed shut the apartment door for the last time and was speeding dow nthe stairs. Panting, Mayna skidded to a stop at teh opening of Alec's cave, leaning over and gasping at the pace she'd taken. "Okay...I'm....I'm back...now."

Alec closed the enterance, sinking back, waiting. It was then that he noticed how unkempt he looked, his cloths were worn, fraying, his hair a wild mess. Then he smiled, not really knowing why now, he cared. For the last three years he had been cold in side, not caring what other saw of him on the outside. Now that Mayna put a flame in his chest.
Alec ran shakey fingers through his hair, trying to put it into some order, but to no avail. With a sigh he gave up and resigned to waiting. It was about ten minutes later when he heard her returning, moving to the darkest part of the cave, he opened the enterance, not wide, but enough so she could slip in.

Slipping inside, Mayna slumped against the wall, her bag next to her. "Whew, that's the fastest I've run ever! Don't think I even went that fast during gym class," she exclaimed. Digging into her bag, she pulled out the blankets and, removing the old ones, replaced them on Alec's bed. "There, that should be better than these rags," she nodded satisfied with the new bed conditions. "As for your clothes...." Mayna frowned, glaring at his ragged clothes. "Can't believe I didn't notice their condition before. We'll need to get you some new ones sometime soon."
